Dunmore County Chronology

Dunmore County was founded from Frederick County in 1772; Frederick from Orange in 1738, but not fully organized and detached from Orange until 1743. In 1754, Frederick gained from Augusta, while losing to the creation of Hampshire. Frederick lost to the creation of Berkeley and Dunmore in 1772. Dunmore was renamed Shenandoah in 1778.
