1804, Oct 23 - Marriage Return: John Parsons and Mary Greathouse

Belmont County,

I here by Certify that John Parsons and Mary Guathouse1 [Grathouse] were Lawfully married by me on the 23rd day of October 1804.

Footnotes:

1) If Mary Greathouse was between age 15 and 18, at the time of her marriage, then she would have been born between 1786 and 1789. In the 1860 census, Jackson County, VA, Mary Greathouse, age 73 [born in 1787], was named in the household of Elisha and Sarah Stewart.

2) John Parsons was assessed for personal property taxes as a resident of Harrison County, VA in 1803. So it appears that he moved from Harrison County, VA to Belmont County, OH between 1803 and 1804.

3) John and Mary Greathouse Parsons moved to Mason County, VA, shortly after their marriage, where John Parsons was assessed for personal property taxes in 1805. Mason was established from Kanawha County, VA in 1804.
