Jackson County Chronology

Jackson County was founded by Virginia from Kanawha, Mason and Wood in 1831; Jackson lost to the creation of Wirt in 1848; Jackson lost to the creation of Roane in 1856; On June 20, 1863, Jackson separated from Virginia and became a county in the state of West Virgnia.
