In 1763 Harmon Greathouse obtained an Ordinary license to operate a tavern there [Harmans Valley] [17]

[17] Maryland Historical Magazine, Vol. 78, No. 4. Winter, 1983. His residence at that time was the western part of Baltimore County, which included Soldiers Delight and Delaware Hundreds, the latter in present-day Carroll County, MD where it appears Harmon lived.

A "Herman" Greathouse was listed on the Baltimore County, MD "Oath of Fidelity" lists in 1778. [22]
