1825, Jan 13 - FULTON lost to creation of KNOX, PEORIA, and SCHUYLER; Non-County Area 5 attached to FULTON lost to creation of HENRY, KNOX, PEORIA, and PUTNAM. (Ill. Laws 1824-1825, pp. 85-87, 92-96)

1) James Gratehous probably moved to Fulton County, IL, between 1820 and 1830 from Tyler County, WV, where a James Greathouse was named on the census of said county in 1820.

2) In the chancery suit brought against the estate of Harman Greathouse deceased, of Belmont County, OH, by Israel Moore vs Enoch Greathouse et al., in 1834, among the children and heirs at law named, were: "James Greathouse, of lawful age and residing in IL".

3) Catharine L. Eveland, age 5 [born 1845], female, born in IL.
4) James Greathouse, age 30 [born 1830], male, born in IL.
5) Henry Greathouse, age 16 [born 1834], male, born IL.
6) Elma Greathouse, age 15 [born 1835], female, born IL.

1862 - Civil War: Corporal James Greathouse and James Greathouse Jr. enlisted in 85th IL Infantry, Company E

CORPORAL JAMES GREATHOUSE, aged thirty-three [born 1829], enlisted 85th IL Infantry Company E Aug 20, 1862 as a private from Havana, Mason county, and served through all the campaigns in which his company was engaged, was promoted corporal, and mustered out with the regiment. He returned to Illinois, and now resides in Bath, Mason county, Illinois. Also enlisted from Havana were James Greathouse Jr.

A JAMES GREATHOUSE, JR., aged twenty-two [born 1840], enlisted from Bath or Havana, in Mason county. He is reported on the muster out roll as having died at Nashville, but date is not given. 85th IL Infantry Company E.
