Tyler County Chronology 1814, Dec 6 - TYLER created by Virginia from OHIO. Counties established prior to 1863, were created by Virginia. (Robinson, 88; Va. Acts 1814-1815, ch. 40, sec. 1/pp. 87-89) 1820, Dec 1 - Ohio River and its islands, previously unassigned to particular counties, were declared to be part of the adjacent Virginia counties, including TYLER (Va. Acts 1819-1820, ch. 74, sec. 1/p. 66) 1846, Jan 10 - TYLER lost to creation of WETZEL. For pre-1863 maps see Virginia. (Va. Acts 1845-1846, ch. 65, sec. 1/pp. 51-54) 1851, Mar 29 - TYLER lost to creation of PLEASANTS. For pre-1863 maps see Virginia. (Va. Acts 1850-1851, ch. 27, sec. 1/pp. 25-26) 1863, Jun 20 - TYLER separated from Virginia and became a county in the state of West Virginia. (Swindler, 10:363) 1868, Mar 4 - TYLER gained small area from WETZEL to accommodate local landowners [not mapped]. (W. Va.
