1792 - Will: William Greathouse Sr. [ View @ Fold3: Page 3 | Page 4 ]

In the Name of God Amen William Greathouse of the County of Harrison in the state of Virginia being weak of in Body but of sound & perfect mind & memory Blessed be Almighty God for the same do make & Publish this my last Will & Testament in manner and form following (that is to say).

First I give I give & bequeath unto my Beloved Wife Barbary Greathouse my homestead place or farm where on I now live Containing two hundred acres [being the Residue of five hundred acres after the land of John Greathouse Frederick Acres & Gabriel Greathouse (one hundred acres) each are run of] together with all the live stock farmers utensils of every kind and also all my household stuff and furniture of every kind whatsoever for and during her natural life excepting such thereupon such legacy as shall Come be herein after mentioned.

I do also give & bequeath unto my two sons John & Gabriel my two Rifle guns with their acutrements the choice to be decided by ballot between themselves.

I also give and bequeath unto my son William & Daughter Mary the value of the two above mentioned guns to be divided betweeen them & paid to them in property.

I also give & bequeath to my Daughter Caty Hartsel one good Bible to be procured by my Executors hereafter mentioned or the value thereof in property as she may choose.

I also give & bequeath to my Daugther Anna Melia McCarty five pounds to be paid in cloathing for herself at the choice of her mother.

And it is also my will & desire that my Executrix & Executor here after Named shall & may at some convenient time after my Decease cause to be surveyed the following tracts of Land & Deeds for the same executed, to wit, to John Greathouse forever one hundred acres to begin at my South west corner & Zach Davis's N W Corner thence along Bells and my west line north to Frederick Akers corner then along his line so far Eastward as With a parallel line with the first or Bell's line will include on hundred acres.

Also to Fredrick Aker beginning at John Greathouse's Corner in Bell's Line thence allong the same North to my Ash Corner thence along the north Bounds of my original Patten so far Eastward as with a parcel parallel line to Bell's line will include one hundred acres.

Also to Gabriel Greathouse to Begin at John Greathouses Corner in Zachariah Davis's line thence along his long line Eastward to the forked Walnut thence Northerly along the out Bound of my original survey along an other of Davis's line so far as with a Parral line with the first as will include 100 acres.

The above three tracts or parcels of Land I having heretofor been paid paid & settle with for.

And it is further my will and desire that at the Decece of my wife that all the above mentioned tract of two hundred acres of land with farmers utentials, stock & household stuff and furniture be sold by the acting Executor & moneys arising there from be Equally Divided between the whole of my children share & share alike.

And I do hereby appoint my said Beloved Wife Executrix & Joseph Shelton Executor of this my Last Will & Testament here by revoking all former Wills by me made giving my said Executrix & Executor full power & authority to perform every needful thing in the law in fulfilling the Same. In Witness... Whereof I have hereunto set my hand & Seal the twenty fight Day of Mar, one thousand seven hundred and Ninety one.
