This Deed made this 25th day of May A.D. 1857 Between John Greathouse Sr. and Sarah ------- his wife of the County of Roane and State of Virginia of the first parts and B.D. Williams, Henry Glaze and J. M. McWhorter and their successors in office as Trustees of the County and State aforesaid of the other parts witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of Two dollars and fifty cents to them in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the party of the first part have granted, bargained and sold and by these present doth grant bargain and sell convey and confirm unto the said B.D. Williams, Henry Glaze and J. M. McWhorter as trustees and to their successors and a certain Lot or parcel of Land lying in the County and State aforesaid About one mile Northwest of New California on the Ravenswood Turnpike which said lot is to be used for the sole purpose of a public burying ground free for the use of all except colored persons ----------------------------- which said lot is bounded as follows to wit Beginning at a white oak on the Northside of said Turnpike. Thence N 51° E 17 ¼ pole to a stake and pointers. Thence S 20° E 20 poles to a Jack oak. Thence S 62° W 9 ¼ poles to a Black oak. Thence with the Turnpike N 44° W 18 poles to the place of Beginning. Continuing by survey one acre one fourth and 57 poles.
