1893, Jun - Obituary: Rebecca Greathouse Conklin

DIED - At the home of her son, Daniel Conklin, in Burnside, Iowa, June 1, 1893, Mrs. Rebecca Conklin aged 86 years, 2 months, 15 days. The deceased was born in Connellsville, Fayette Co., Pa., March 17, 1807. At this place she lived with her parents until her marriage to Wm. Conklin about the year 1824. In the year 1854 they moved to Greencastle, Putnam Co., Ind., where in 1858 her husband died. Their union was blessed with 11 children, only 2 of whom survive her. She sent 5 sons to the army to fight for the Union. In 1875 she removed to Des Moines, Iowa and resided there most of the time until last fall when she came to this county. She has been a follower of Christ since the age of 15, most of the time a member of the Baptist church. She lived a faithful and consistent christian life and welcomed the call of the Master to her reward.

2) Rebecca Greathouse's parents would have been a Greathouse couple, who resided at Connellsville, Fayette County, PA between 1807 and 1824.

3) William Conklin & Rebecca Greathouse were married in 1824, at Connellsville, Fayette County, PA.
